Once you enter, go through a 2nd set of glass doors. Walk into Brindle Hall on your left, then enter the Little Flower Room through the door on the far end of Brindle.
Ladies, could you use A Day of Rest? Refresh with our mini retreat that begins in our Little Flower Room. Then travel together to the National Shrine Grotto, Mount Saint Mary’s University
*Important notes:
- Bring your own packed lunch and a drink/water.
- Dress for the outside weather.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Bring $ cash if wanting to light candles, or purchase from the gift shop.
- For water from the fresh spring, bring your Holy Water bottle—or one of ours from the Little Flower room as we begin our mini retreat (promptly at 8:00 AM) with our own, Kathy McQuaig!
Schedule:
8:00 AM Begin in our Brindle Hall Little Flower Room for our mini-retreat, focusing and directing our Day of Rest.
8:30 AM Depart Saint Joseph parking lot. (Carpool-Rte. 15 S. to Mount Saint Mary’s Emmitsburg, turn right onto Saint Anthony’s Road. Parking lot on left before reaching Grotto area. For Accessible Parking, continue straight into the circle by the Grotto.) Accessibility - National Shrine Grotto (nsgrotto.org)
9:20-9:30 AM Arrive at Grotto. Restrooms and wheelchairs available at Visitor’s Center. (If necessary, golf cart may be available for transport to parts of the national shrine. Details TBD.)
9:30 – 10:30 AM On Your own, a time to pray, reflect and enjoy God’s beautiful creation. There are 38 points of interest on the brochure map, including the Grotto, Stations of the Cross, the Corpus Christi Chapel, Mountain Grotto Water, Padre Pio statue, the Mysteries of the Rosary, and many other statues. 10:30-10:45 AM Bernadette’s Gift Shoppe, Restrooms.
11:00 AM Mass in the Glass Chapel across from Bernadette’s Gift Shoppe. (Rosary and/or confessions often follow Mass at the discretion of the priests available.) ***Following Mass, a picnic lunch beside chapel with possible visit from Deacon Richard.
After lunch, Free time and/or depart for home by, or before, 2:00 PM.
