The Council shall be composed of the priests and deacons of the parish, at least 2 staff members, and 12 non-clergy/non-staff parishioners.

Membership on Council will be open to all parishioners who:

• are practicing Catholics in good standing and are at least eighteen (18) years of age, live out the Precepts of the Church and are engaged members of Saint Joseph Parish.
• possess a willingness to grow in an understanding of the Church by taking advantage of opportunities for continuous personal development. Member's motivation to transform the parish will work in conjunction with their own personal transformation.
• have the ability to work with others in a spirit of openness and trust; and agree to uphold the teachings of the Church.
• do not have another family member or cohabitant already on the Council.

Recruitment of candidates for Council shall be as follows:

• There will be a call in the bulletin throughout January and February to all parishioners, outlining the duties and obligations of Council members.
• Members may submit their own names, or a parishioner may submit the name of any parishioner for consideration on the Council. Submissions must be made by April 30th.
• Each candidate will submit a completed questionnaire.

The procedure shall be as follows:

• All nominations received shall be directed to the pastor/parish administrator, as the spiritual head of the parish;
• The pastor/parish administrator may add to these nominations;
• Approval for new members shall be discussed at the June Council meeting. New members will then be invited to be part of the Council;
• Results will be advertised in the Sunday Bulletin within two (2) weeks of completing these invitations.

The term of office shall be three (3) consecutive years commencing July I st of each year. Successive terms of membership on Council may be permitted, with a maximum of 2 terms. After one term outside of Council, the parishioner may be selected to serve again.

Meetings are held from 9 AM - noon on the first Saturday of each month.
