In one of his presentations, Matthew Kelly asked the question of the audience, “When was the last time you stepped into the classroom of silence and said to God, ‘Show me the plans?’” He went on to ask why is it that we go everywhere else in life, put so much time into so many other things, but forget to go
every day to the One who invites us into the Abundant Life that is in store for us?
10 minutes a day –A simple key to perfection.
Mr. Kelly tells us to give ourselves a reminder –perhaps on a post-it note on your bathroom mirror. A reminder to schedule those 10 life-changing minutes every day. As he writes often in his books, “Our lives change when our habits change.”
This week we invite you on a 21 day journey, of only 10 minutes each day, to enter into this Classroom of Silence. We will have a live session each night, beginning on March 1, at 9 PM on our Facebook page. We will post this daily session so that if this particular time is not ideal for your personal schedule, you can access the session any time the next day. It’s up to you to fit these 10 minutes into each day, even if not at a consistent time. As we all know, though, something else always wants to get in the way, unless we make it a routine. We find excuses to put prayer off until we are too tired to actually enter into those 10 minutes of peace, and then feel guilty for not following through, and then eventually forget about it completely, because we have not established a routine.
The suggestion to post the reminder on your bathroom mirror is a way to hold yourself accountable. Hopefully we all brush our teeth every day, and you will be reminded each time you look at that note to make sure that you are touching base with God every day, until it becomes a habit not-to-be-missed in your daily routine.
10 minutes a day. That is all. Do that, and you will feel differently. Why? Because you are giving yourself time to fall in love with God. You will notice the good this is doing in your life. Others will notice, too.
